Not much feels better than relaxing in a hot tub with the jets on blast at the end of the day.

Hot tubs/spas have varying requirements of power to heat the water and run those wonderful jets.

Some small units require only a dedicated 20 Amp 120 volt circuit. Although you might be tempted to plug this into a standard plug off your back porch, this is not always a wise decision. The hot tub/spa likely draws the circuit to its max capacity and if this circuit is shared with any other appliances you may experience problems with the breaker tripping (a safety feature working properly).

Alternatively if the outlet is not rated for a continuous load to be running on it, the outlet may overheat and with time stop working or become a fire hazard. A dedicated circuit that is GFCI protected is always the proper way to power a small hot tub/spa.

Larger units often require a 50 Amp 240 volt dedicated circuit hardwired to your hot tub/spa. A new circuit from the panel will be necessary as well as a GFCI protected disconnect within sight of your hot tub/spa.
